2 Young Lives – 2YL

Here at LNP, the leadership team appreciates the continued support of our friends Lucy November and Cristina Fernandez Turienzo, who visited Sierra Leone to witness and be part of the annual 2YL Convention, and our thanks and appreciation goes to the Country Director of Welbodi Partnership, Jenny Kamara, their presence provided additional motivation, inspiring the mentors, coordinators and the whole 2YL team.
Together with the 2YL team here, this is their feedback report from the Convention…

2YoungLives held its annual convention in Bumpe from March 18th-21st, with 50 mentors and coordinators from all the 12 sites of operations, the eventful convention being officially opened by the Executive Director of Lifeline Nehemiah Projects, Prince Tommy Williams.
Key activities included; refresher training on mentoring pregnant adolescents, danger signs for pregnant girls and babies, STI prevention and treatment.
Physical activities included a football match between the community women and 2YoungLives women, cross community juggling, a beach trip and a Talent Show competition.
The 2YL management team also presented prizes to deserving mentors and coordinators for exceptional roles, such as for the best mentor, team work, caring for the youngest pregnant child (14 years), best success story, and many more.
The Community stakeholders/judges of the Talent Show expressed their satisfaction of the impact of the 2YoungLives initiative in Bumpe, not just for the girls but for the way it has empowered the mentors, so much so that most women in the town now want to be members of the 2YoungLives.
Other speakers included Dr Vincent, a paediatrician and friend of 2YL, and Manty Jalloh, our wonderful Maternal and Child Health aide and State Registered Nursing student.
