The Lifeline and Well Bodi teams toured the areas where the PAPAYA Project operates, engaging with community stakeholders in the Portree, Kuntorloh and Tombo communities.
The teams continue to support pregnant women in attending antenatal care (ANC), having now registered over 200 pregnant women for weekly follow-ups.
There are many success stories among these groups of pregnant women, for example:
~ some who initially decided not to attend ANC, due to the heavy financial demands from some health workers, have now registered;
~ some who had registered at the hospital but were not attending, have now resumed ANC as a result of the Lifeline team’s encouragement.
These advances now mean that some of the potentially complicated issues these women might face could be detected earlier and effective solutions found.
