2YL has started the necessary payments to enable 133 of our mentees – mothering adolescents – to return to schools and Skills training institutions of their choice.
Twelve of these girls who have never previously been to school or have demonstrated no passion for schooling are being supported in starting up or continuing in small business enterprises.
We can also announce that a total of 109 new pregnant girls have been recruited as part of the 2024 intake.
The University of Edinburgh accepted an abstract from our very own Mangenda Kamara, for presentation at the GLOW 2024 Conference in Edinburgh, and she made her presentation on September 23rd.
The theme of the conference was – Rising to the challenge: women and newborn health in the context of global crises, and the focus of Mangenda’s presentation was on the importance of community engagement in healthcare implementation research.
The other recent occasion indicated in the photos was that the 2YL team, together with our colleagues from Kings College London, had the privilege of attending a one night exhibition and film showing at the Science Museum Late, an event visited by over 2000 people during which Cris and Lucy had the opportunity of talking to a great number of interested individuals.
