As part of our partnership with the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, we provide mentoring and education support (which includes formal and vocational training) to the young offenders at the Approved School Juvenile Centre. The trainees are allowed on day release from the Approved School, which is quite close to the projects to join the course.
This has been a success as we are able to provide support and equip these yong people with income generating skills before they are released back into society. With our life skills and mentoring training we are able to work through several issues with the young men, all geared towards preventing reoffending and equipping them to be positive contributers to society.
This project has now been running since 1996, and looks set to continue.
